Troops of the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have repelled a terrorist attack in Badiya Village, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The troops reportedly acted on credible intelligence regarding suspicious movements in the area and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw into the surrounding terrain.

During the encounter, the terrorists abandoned a large herd of livestock believed to have been rustled from local communities.

The recovered animals were subsequently handed over to their rightful owners during a brief ceremony facilitated by the Chairman of Shagari Local Government Area and the local District Head.

The military said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy, protect communities and safeguard the livelihoods of residents in the area.

The intervention also underscores the importance of timely intelligence and collaboration with local authorities in countering criminal activities and protecting rural communities.
