The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, has hailed the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for its dedication to women’s empowerment, skills training, and community development.
Ms. Mohammed gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the DEPOWA Secretariat in Abuja, where she was warmly received by the association’s President, Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa.
Their discussions centred on strengthening partnerships in women’s empowerment, sustainable growth, and inclusive development.
Touring the DEPOWA Skill Acquisition Centre, the UN Deputy Chief interacted with trainees enrolled in various vocational programmes. She praised the initiative as a beacon of empowerment that not only equips women with vital skills but also supports family livelihoods and fosters social resilience.
