Ngoshe, located about 40 kilometres from Gwoza, was among communities recently hit by insurgent violence. The governor’s visit formed part of a two-day confidence and resilience-building tour to affected areas, including Pulka.
During the visit, Zulum announced the distribution of cash and relief materials to over 30,000 victims impacted by the attacks.
“It is saddening to see this kind of devastation. In recent times, I have not witnessed such destruction. It is sheer madness, but Insha Allah, we shall build back better,” the governor said after inspecting the affected areas.
He assured residents that the state government would rebuild destroyed homes and public infrastructure, while intensifying efforts to restore lasting peace. The governor directed officials of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement to immediately assess the extent of damage with a view to rehabilitating all affected structures.
Zulum also disclosed that the Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had released funds to the Multinational Joint Task Force to support ongoing military operations in the region.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the area, the governor noted that the Mandara Hills remain a stronghold for insurgents, stressing that sustained military pressure is necessary to dislodge them.
He commended the military, particularly the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and the Brigade Commander, for reinforcing security in Ngoshe, noting that troop presence has been significantly increased.
“The military has taken over Ngoshe again. They have increased personnel by 100 per cent, and I believe with what they have done so far, we will keep Ngoshe secure,” he said.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, Zulum declared that Ngoshe would not be allowed to fall back into the hands of insurgents.
“Ngoshe is very important. The fall of Ngoshe would send a very bad signal to Pulka, Kirawa, Gwoza, and even Bama. We shall not allow this town to be taken over again,” he added.
The governor was accompanied on the visit by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume and other government officials.
