A 26-year-old mother of three, Vainess Kanyama, has died following an alleged assault by a woman she reportedly confronted over an alleged relationship with her husband in Kitwe, Zambia.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Kapoto Township, after Kanyama allegedly went to confront Christin Ntundwe, who was said to be involved with her husband.
According to the deceased’s uncle, Derrick Bwalya, the family was alerted after Kanyama was found unconscious near a local market.
Bwalya said he rushed to the scene and found his niece surrounded by members of the public, bleeding from the nose and unresponsive.
“I found my niece bleeding from the nose and she was unresponsive. When I attempted to take her to the hospital, I was told that she had already died,” he said.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Post-Mortem Reveals Cause of Death
According to the family, a post-mortem examination found that Kanyama died from blood clots on both sides of the brain, following the alleged assault.
She was laid to rest on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The family has called for justice and urged law-enforcement authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and bring anyone found responsible to justice.
Bwalya also appealed to Kanyama’s husband to cooperate fully with investigators, particularly in efforts to establish the circumstances that led to the confrontation.
The deceased reportedly leaves behind three children, with the youngest aged just five years.
The alleged suspect, Ntundwe, is reportedly at large, while police have yet to issue an official statement confirming the circumstances of the incident or the status of the investigation.
The tragic death has left the family grieving and raised renewed concerns about the devastating consequences of violent confrontations and domestic disputes.
