By Matthew Atungwu

The Honourable Minister of Defence (HMOD), Dr Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has reaffirmed his Ministry’s confidence in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF)’s capability to fulfill its constitutional obligations.

The Minister made this statement on Tuesday when he led the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Directors, and other top officials of the Ministry to the NAF Headquarters.

Additionally, he reaffirmed his whole faith in Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar and other NAF officials as they collaborated to create an atmosphere that allows every Nigerian to live freely and without fear of intimidation.

According to the Minister, “The level of teamwork among the various Services is impressive and this is because we have a strong team at the top.

“I am also happy with your leadership and how you have guided the Nigerian Air Force towards achieving the level of success recorded.”

The Minister of Defence continued by expressing his appreciation for the significant cooperation between the Ministry and the Services, which has been crucial to the recent noteworthy accomplishments.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the NAF staff for their unwavering commitment and diligence and reassured the country that his ministry is completely dedicated to giving all necessary support to help the NAF and other Services overcome its security difficulties.

Prior to this, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), had praised the Minister for his leadership abilities and his attempts to take the military into a new phase of advancement.

According to the CAS, ‘Your tenure has no doubt ushered in purposeful policies and programs designed to meet the Nation’s defense and security objectives.’

He also briefed the Minister on some of the notable achievements recorded since he assumed office, noting that the achievements would not have been possible without the support of the Minister and his team.

Seizing the moment, the CAS conveyed his appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his unwavering support in meeting the needs of the Service.

He continued by assuring that the NAF is fully committed to preserving democratic ideals and defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity, as is the case with its committed personnel.

The CAS observed that in order to fulfill this pledge, the NAF has stepped up air operations against terrorists and other criminal elements, limiting their freedom of movement and creating an environment that is conducive to the success of ground operations by Nigerian forces.

The CAS, therefore, issued a severe warning to all adversaries of the state, telling them to stop committing crimes or face the repercussions.
