Gusau passed away on Thursday at a Delhi hospital in India after suffering from an ailment of the heart.
The Special Adviser to the Governor, Lanre Obadiah, disclosed in a statement yesterday (Friday) in Maiduguri that “Governor Zulum has expressed that the entire people of Borno State mourn the loss of a dedicated public servant and a cherished member of the team.”

The governor, therefore, extended his condolences to friends and associates, particularly members of the media industry.
Gusau, who has served as the Special Adviser on Public Relations and Strategy to Zulum since June 2019, had also served under Senator Kashim Shettima, the current Vice President, in the same capacity when he was the governor of the state.
While describing the deceased, Zulum said: “Mallam Isa Gusau was admired by everyone for his commitment to the people of Borno State with exceptional professionalism.
“He was a tireless advocate for the state and worked continuously to communicate all the government policies and programmes to the general public,” he said, noting that the communication and enlightenment were very “clear and transparent” to be comprehended.
On how Gusau could be remembered, he said, “The deceased will be remembered for his passion for serving the people of Borno State and his dedication to the betterment of the state.
“He also had exceptional communication skills, which played a crucial role in ensuring understanding and cooperation between the state government and its people.”
Zulum, therefore, prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Isa Gusau. He also wished God would give his family and other loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
