World Teachers’ Day: Senator Lere Oyewumi Commends Teachers for Contributions to Nation-Building

The Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, PhD, has lauded teachers as crucial pillars in the nation-building process.
According to Senator Oyewumi in a press statement issued by his Media Unit on Saturday and made available to newsmen, emphasized that government initiatives in the education sector can only achieve success with the unwavering support and collaboration of teachers.
Senator Oyewumi commended teachers for their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication to nurturing future leaders and serving as beacons of knowledge throughout history. He urged them to remain the bedrock upon which the success of every individual is built, and the wellspring from which people draw knowledge and understanding.
Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” Senator Oyewumi emphasized the need to listen to and integrate teachers’ viewpoints in the development of education policies. He pointed out that teachers are at the forefront of education, and their input is crucial for fostering a more effective and fair learning environment.
Senator Oyewumi expressed his appreciation for teachers and their significant contributions to the country. He recognized the difficulties they encounter and urged them to stay dedicated to their mission of educating future generations.
