Police Launch Investigation as Woman Allegedly Stabs 7-Year-Old Girl to Death in Rivers Community

The Rivers State Police Command has begun investigations into a shocking incident in which a seven-year-old girl was allegedly stabbed to death by a woman identified only as Success in the Agip Estate area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Although the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, the tragic event was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who said the matter was first reported by the victim’s mother, Mrs. Glory Joseph.

According to Iringe-Koko, Mrs. Joseph told the police that her daughter, Alicia Olajumoke, was picked up from school by the suspect, taken to her residence, and fatally stabbed at about 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

The police spokesperson said the suspect also stabbed herself in the throat after the act.

“The scene of the crime was visited, and photographs were taken. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead. The suspect was also rushed to the same hospital and confirmed dead,” she said.

Iringe-Koko added that the child’s remains have been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for deeper investigation.

“Preliminary investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated,” she assured.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown as police continue efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
