Matawalle Commends DICON-D7G at Global Defence Exhibition in Turkey
The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has commended indigenous defence production company DICON-D7G for advancing Nigeria’s military industrial production on the global stage.
Matawalle gave the commendation while declaring open the DICON-D7G exhibition booth at SAHA 2026 taking place in Istanbul.
He was accompanied by the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Aviation.
During the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of DICON-D7G, Osman Chennar, led the minister and his delegation around the exhibition stand showcasing locally manufactured Nigerian defence equipment.
Matawalle described the company’s participation at the international exhibition as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s defence industry.
“DICON-D7G has come of age on the global stage and is playing a significant role by showcasing made-in-Nigeria arms at such a major international defence exhibition,” he said.
The minister noted that Nigeria’s growing local defence production capacity would reduce the country’s dependence on foreign manufacturers for military equipment and supplies.
He also encouraged international defence manufacturing firms to establish production plants in Nigeria, describing the development as part of the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Matawalle further praised Osman Chennar and the management of DICON-D7G for their commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defence manufacturing capabilities.
According to officials, Nigeria first participated in a global military production exhibition through DICON-D7G in Doha before making its latest appearance in Istanbul, marking a major step for the organisation established in 1968.
More than 1,000 companies from over 100 countries are participating in the SAHA 2026 exhibition, which runs from May 5 to May 9, 2026.
The DICON-D7G delegation also included directors such as Mainasara Abdul Masanawa, Abiodun Morakinyo, and Lasbery Chidozie, among others.
