Fresh Trouble for 2Baba, Natasha as Landlord Seeks Court Approval Over Alleged Rent Arrears

Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and his wife Natasha Idibia are reportedly entangled in a legal dispute with their landlord over alleged unpaid rent for their Abuja residence.

The property in question — a 5-bedroom semi-detached duplex with a boys’ quarters located at No. 27 Edwin Clerk Crescent, Guzape, Abuja — has become the center of controversy following claims of ownership and unpaid dues.

Earlier, Natasha Idibia had publicly stated that the house was a gift from her grandfather, leading many to believe the couple owned the home. However, new revelations indicate otherwise. Documents purportedly filed in court suggest that the Idibias were renting the property and have fallen behind on payments.

According to the alleged legal documents, the landlord, through his representatives, is seeking a court order to evict the couple due to outstanding rent and unpaid professional fees.

The report claims that the couple initially paid ₦40 million upfront to secure the duplex for two years, with an agreement to pay an additional ₦40 million by December 2025. However, the landlord’s legal team also alleges that the Idibias have defaulted on a ₦7 million professional fee related to the tenancy arrangement and even issued a bounced cheque in the process.

The legal letter reads in part:

“After securing the property for two years by paying ₦40,000,000 upfront with an agreement to pay another ₦40,000,000 by the end of December 2025, you have refused to pay our client his professional fees of ₦7,000,000. After several demands, you went on to issue a dud cheque that was returned unpaid.”

The landlord’s representatives have reportedly given the Idibias seven days to settle the outstanding fees or face legal action for recovery and possible eviction.

As of now, neither 2Baba nor Natasha has issued an official statement regarding the claims. The development has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with fans expressing surprise and curiosity about the couple’s reported housing situation.
