On the occasion of Christmas 2025 and the approaching New Year 2026, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General OO Oluyede, has extended warm greetings to Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. In his goodwill message, General Oluyede highlighted the spirit of Christmas as a season of love, sacrifice, hope, and renewal, while urging reflection on collective responsibility, peace, unity, and national progress.

The CDS expressed profound gratitude to the Nigerian people for their resilience, patriotism, and continued support for the military amid the nation’s security challenges. He emphasized that the cooperation and trust between citizens and the Armed Forces are vital to sustaining peace and security, assuring that the military remains steadfast in defending Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic institutions.
Special tribute was paid to frontline troops who remain deployed during the festive season. General Oluyede lauded their courage, discipline, professionalism, and selfless service, often at personal sacrifice, and acknowledged that the nation owes them an immeasurable debt of gratitude.
The CDS reiterated that the welfare of military personnel and their families remains a top priority. He highlighted efforts to enhance living and working conditions, including improved accommodation, healthcare delivery, timely allowances, and support for the families of fallen heroes. The Military Strategic Philosophy focuses on consolidating capabilities, reinforcing operational readiness, and sustaining a whole-of-government approach to national security.
General Oluyede encouraged all members of the Armed Forces to embrace the teachings of Christ—peace, love, forgiveness, and selfless service—while remaining disciplined, professional, and loyal to the Constitution. He also called on all Nigerians to promote peace, tolerance, and unity across ethnic, religious, and cultural lines.
