Kebbi Launches 2026 Dry Season Farming Programme, Distributes Inputs to Boost Food Security

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, joined the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, and the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar, to officially launch the 2026 Dry Season Farming Programme in Birnin Kebbi.

The event, held at the Haliru Abdu Multi-Purpose Stadium, witnessed the distribution of farm inputs and agricultural machinery to farmers across the state, as part of efforts to promote year-round farming and increase food production.

Governor Idris described the initiative as a strategic move to drive agricultural growth and strengthen food security in Kebbi State. He noted that encouraging all-season farming aligns with the broader agricultural revolution vision under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Minister of Agriculture commended the state government for prioritizing food production, stressing that steady food supply remains essential for survival, as well as for relief and recovery during disasters.

Also speaking, the NEMA Director-General emphasized the importance of strengthening agricultural resilience as part of national preparedness strategies, noting that food security plays a vital role in mitigating the impact of emergencies.

The programme is expected to enhance farmers’ productivity, improve livelihoods and contribute to building stronger, more resilient communities across Kebbi State.
