The visit, which marks his first to any Nigerian university since assuming office, focused on exploring partnerships with Turkish institutions in areas such as research collaboration, as well as staff and student exchange programmes.

Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor of BUK, Haruna Musa, reaffirmed the university’s readiness to build strategic international collaborations. He highlighted the institution’s strong academic reputation and research strengths, particularly in dryland agriculture, renewable energy, and public health.

Both parties expressed optimism about formalising agreements that would enhance knowledge exchange, broaden opportunities for students and faculty, and deepen educational cooperation between the two countries.

The engagement reflects growing diplomatic and academic ties between Nigeria and Turkey, with increasing emphasis on international partnerships to drive innovation and capacity development in higher education.
