Operation HADIN KAI Arrests Terrorist Collaborators, Logistics Suppliers in North-East Operations

Troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in conjunction with Operation DESERT SANITY V, have recorded major operational successes across Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, including the arrest of suspected terrorists and their collaborators, disruption of logistics networks, recovery of weapons and ammunition, and the surrender of insurgents.

The military disclosed that the operations formed part of sustained counter-terrorism and counter-criminality efforts aimed at consolidating security gains across the North-East region.

According to the Theatre Command, troops, working alongside Forest Guards, arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics supplier, Girema Aliko, 40, at Benisheikh Market in Borno State. The suspect, who had reportedly been on a security watchlist, was intercepted while transporting 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

Preliminary interrogation revealed that he allegedly supplied fuel and other logistics to terrorist groups operating within the region.

In a separate operation, troops of the 7 Division Provost Group arrested Mohammed Bulama, 25, at Ngawom, Muna Garage, within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council area. Military authorities identified him as a suspected terrorist logistics supplier and informant. Investigators said preliminary findings established links between the suspect and terrorist elements, while he has reportedly indicated willingness to provide further intelligence.

The military also announced the arrest of an absconded soldier, Private Umar Bema of the 50 Task Force Battalion, who allegedly deserted his unit with his service weapon. He was apprehended in Maiduguri, and investigations reportedly linked him to robbery and other criminal activities during his period of absence.

His rifle and magazines were recovered, while military authorities said he remains in custody pending further investigation and disciplinary action.

In Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper and member of a criminal syndicate. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to involvement in kidnapping, cattle rustling and related criminal activities across several communities. He also disclosed links between criminal gangs and terrorist groups through weapons sourced from neutralised insurgents.

Another suspected logistics supplier was apprehended in the Gubio axis while allegedly transporting large quantities of food items intended for Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.

Meanwhile, in Adamawa State, troops working with local hunters arrested two suspected ISWAP members who reportedly confessed to participating in attacks and abductions in parts of Adamawa and Borno states.

The military further disclosed that sustained pressure on terrorist enclaves has continued to force insurgents and their family members to surrender. In the Kukawa axis, a fleeing Boko Haram/ISWAP member surrendered alongside two children.

As part of ongoing offensive operations, troops raided terrorist hideouts in the Damboa axis and discovered several abandoned camps. During the operation, troops recovered rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) bombs and PKT ammunition, further weakening the operational capacity of terrorist groups.

The command also confirmed that 13 detainees were handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with established legal procedures.

The Theatre Command stated that the cumulative impact of recent operations has significantly disrupted terrorist logistics chains, degraded combat capabilities and limited the freedom of movement of insurgent groups across the region.

It reassured residents of the military’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations, protecting lives and property, and restoring lasting peace, security and economic stability throughout the North-East.

The military commended troops for their resilience and professionalism, urging them to maintain operational momentum in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminality.
