Katsina Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Woman Over Alleged Killing of Grandmother in Daura
The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old woman, Aisha Muktar Hassan, for allegedly causing the death of her 97-year-old grandmother, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan, in Daura Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.
According to the statement, the tragic incident followed a reported altercation between the suspect and her grandmother, during which Aisha allegedly struck the elderly woman on the head with a chair.
Police officers were said to have responded promptly after receiving a distress report and arrived at the scene, where they found the victim bleeding from injuries sustained during the incident.
Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan was immediately rushed to a medical facility for emergency treatment. However, medical personnel later confirmed her death while she was receiving care.
The police said the suspect has been taken into custody and that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Command assured members of the public that the case would be thoroughly investigated and that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
