The United States has said a recent counterterrorism operation in Nigeria resulted in the killing of 199 suspected jihadists and the recovery of what it described as the largest ISIS intelligence cache seized since the September 11, 2001, attacks.
According to U.S. officials, security forces recovered a vast collection of electronic devices, including laptops, mobile phones, hard drives and other digital storage equipment, from suspected militant camps during the operation.
The officials said the volume of materials recovered was so significant that an additional aircraft was required to transport the equipment for detailed forensic analysis.
They added that the intelligence gathered is expected to assist investigators in identifying ISIS communication channels, leadership structures, financing networks and potential future attack plans.
The development comes amid growing international concern over the expansion of ISIS-affiliated groups in parts of Africa, where extremist organisations continue to pose serious security challenges.
The U.S. authorities said further analysis of the recovered materials is ongoing and could provide valuable intelligence to support future counterterrorism operations.
