President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has commended the peaceful political atmosphere and growing unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The President gave the commendation on Friday while receiving Governor Mai Mala Buni and the APC governorship candidate for Yobe State, Baba Malam Wali, mni, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
President Tinubu congratulated Governor Buni and the leadership of the APC in the state for conducting what he described as a successful and peaceful primary election that produced Baba Malam Wali as the party’s governorship candidate.
He described Governor Buni as a seasoned political strategist whose leadership and contributions have continued to strengthen the APC at both the state and national levels.
According to the President, Governor Buni remains one of the party’s valuable assets, expressing confidence that the APC would continue to enjoy overwhelming support in Yobe State under his leadership.
“With Governor Buni at the helm of affairs, I have no doubt that Yobe State will continue to be delivered to the All Progressives Congress,” Tinubu said.
The President also described the party’s governorship candidate as an experienced administrator and accomplished bureaucrat who has spent years contributing to governance and public service.
He expressed confidence that Baba Malam Wali would build on the achievements of the current administration by sustaining development in key sectors, including education, healthcare, road infrastructure and agriculture.
“I am confident that you will bring your wealth of experience to consolidate on the legacies of the Buni administration and further advance development in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, agricultural empowerment and other critical sectors,” the President added.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Buni described the APC governorship candidate as well prepared for the task ahead, noting that his long experience in government would ensure a seamless transition and continuity in governance.
“He has been part of the system for a long time. It will be a continuation of good governance without wasting time,” the governor said.
Governor Buni also conveyed the appreciation of the government and people of Yobe State to President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s continued support, which he said has contributed significantly to improving the welfare and living conditions of the people of the state.
The meeting forms part of ongoing consultations within the APC as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
