Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered a motorcycle and a Baofeng handheld radio during a successful counter-terrorism operation in Mokurata, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to security sources, the operation was launched following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected terrorists operating in the area.
Acting on the intelligence, the troops swiftly deployed to Mokurata to prevent the terrorists from carrying out planned attacks.
On sighting the advancing troops, the suspects reportedly attempted to flee but were engaged by the troops, who overwhelmed them with superior firepower.
At the end of the operation, two suspected terrorists were neutralised, while a motorcycle and a Baofeng handheld radio believed to have been used for communication during criminal operations were recovered.
Military authorities said the operation is part of the ongoing offensive by Operation FANSAN YAMMA aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting their logistics and denying criminal elements freedom of movement across the North-West.
They added that troops have continued to dominate the general area and sustain offensive operations to enhance security, protect communities and restore lasting peace across the region.
