The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Development Institute (AMTDI), Jalingo, has presented a locally fabricated rice milling machine to the School of Engineering, Federal Polytechnic Bali, Taraba State, in a move aimed at strengthening research, innovation and practical engineering education.
The presentation followed a formal request by the School of Engineering for technical collaboration and institutional support in machine development and engineering equipment.
In line with its mandate to promote indigenous technology and innovation, the institute designed and fabricated the rice mill to support academic research, practical engineering training and agricultural mechanisation.
The machine was presented on behalf of the Overseeing Officer of AMTDI, Abdulrahman Barkindo Bawuro, by the Chief Executive Officer and Head of the Technology Business Development Department, Ahmed Bukar Grema.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by members of staff of the institute, highlighting the significance attached to the partnership.
Speaking during the event, Grema reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with academic institutions and industry to enhance research, strengthen practical technical education and promote sustainable manufacturing technology for industrial development.
He said such collaborations are essential in bridging the gap between research and industry while encouraging innovation-driven solutions.
Grema also urged the Federal Polytechnic Bali to promote the institute’s products and services among academic institutions, organisations and individuals to deepen collaboration and expand the adoption of locally developed technologies.
Receiving the equipment, the representative of the School of Engineering expressed appreciation to the management and staff of AMTDI Jalingo for their technical expertise and continued support.
He noted that the rice milling machine would enhance practical learning, improve students’ technical skills and support engineering research within the institution.
The presentation, according to the institute, further strengthens the partnership between AMTDI Jalingo and the Federal Polytechnic Bali, while reinforcing their shared commitment to advancing research-driven innovation and promoting the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies for economic and industrial development in Taraba State and Nigeria.
