Nigerian Army Strengthens Private-Sector Partnership to Boost Fleet Maintenance, Operational Readiness

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships with the private sector to strengthen logistics support, improve fleet maintenance and enhance operational readiness in support of Nigeria’s security objectives.

The COAS made this known on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, when he received the executive management of Elizade Nigeria Limited on a courtesy visit to Army Headquarters, Abuja.

Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Bamidele Alabi, Lieutenant General Shaibu stressed the importance of maintaining a reliable and mission-ready vehicle fleet to sustain combat effectiveness, facilitate rapid troop deployment and enable the Army to respond swiftly to emerging security threats across the country.

He noted that effective collaboration between the military and private sector serves as a vital force multiplier, particularly in fleet management, equipment maintenance, technical support and personnel development.

The COAS explained that such partnerships form an important component of the Nigerian Army’s transformation agenda, which seeks to build a more agile, technologically enabled and increasingly self-reliant force.

He commended Elizade Nigeria Limited for its longstanding support to the Nigerian Army, particularly through the provision of vehicles, maintenance services, technical assistance and industrial training programmes for personnel serving in military workshop units.

According to him, the company’s contributions have complemented ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to strengthen its logistics architecture and improve operational efficiency in the defence of Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Lieutenant General Shaibu further assured the delegation of the Army’s commitment to supporting a secure environment capable of promoting economic growth, attracting investment and strengthening the relationship between national security and economic development.

He emphasised that closer cooperation among the Armed Forces, government institutions and the private sector remains essential to developing resilient defence capabilities, sustaining operational effectiveness and creating the conditions necessary for lasting peace and prosperity.

Elizade Reaffirms Commitment to Nigerian Army

Earlier, the Branch Manager of Elizade Nigeria Limited, Mr Adeniji Abiodun Adeyinka, conveyed the goodwill of the company’s Founder, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, and its management to the Chief of Army Staff.

Mr Adeniji commended Lieutenant General Shaibu for his leadership and praised the Nigerian Army for its continued efforts to confront the country’s complex security challenges.

He reaffirmed Elizade Nigeria Limited’s commitment to expanding its longstanding partnership with the Nigerian Army through enhanced technical support, fleet maintenance services, industrial attachment opportunities and the provision of quality automotive solutions tailored to the Army’s evolving operational requirements.

The engagement underscored the growing importance of public-private collaboration in strengthening Nigeria’s defence logistics, technical capacity and operational preparedness, while reinforcing the shared objective of creating a safer and more economically secure Nigeria.
