A Night of Unity: ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staffs Strengthen
General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of Nigeria and Chairman of the ECOWAS Committee of CDSs, hosted a distinguished dinner for the Chiefs of Defence Staff from across the West African region.
The event was a highlight of the 42nd Ordinary Meeting of the ECOWAS Committee of CDSs, aimed at fostering deeper regional security cooperation.
General Musa emphasized the significance of the gathering, noting that the ongoing discussions had already yielded fruitful results in enhancing the security landscape of the West African sub-region.
“This dinner is not just a moment to unwind but also an opportunity to build a conducive environment for further deliberations as we near the conclusion of our meeting,” he stated.
Reflecting on the collective progress of the ECOWAS Committee, General Musa urged his fellow CDSs to reaffirm their shared commitment to peace, stability, and security in the region.
He underscored the importance of continued collaboration among African nations to address common threats.
Lieutenant General Mahmat Cham, the Gambian CDS, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of his colleagues from Senegal, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Benin Republic, and Cote d’Ivoire.
He lauded the dinner as a memorable experience, symbolizing the strong ties between the ECOWAS member states.
General Cham assured Nigeria of the Committee’s unwavering support in realizing the vision of a safe and secure West African community.
