A governorship aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, Dr. Ishaya Inuwa Durkwa, has called on Nigerians to actively participate in the democratic process, stressing that citizen engagement remains the foundation of a stronger and more inclusive democracy.
Dr. Durkwa said democracy thrives when citizens choose to participate, not because the system is perfect, but because they believe in building a better future for the country.
He described voting as both a constitutional right and a civic responsibility, urging Nigerians to recognise the power of their votes in shaping the nation’s future.
According to him, every vote counts and every citizen has a role to play in determining the direction of governance through peaceful and active participation in the electoral process.
As preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections, the governorship aspirant encouraged eligible voters to mobilise family members, friends and their communities to participate in the democratic process, emphasizing that collective participation is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
He expressed optimism that increased voter participation would contribute to credible elections, accountable leadership and sustainable national development.
