APC Chieftain Declares Support for Gwamna, Says Inuwa’s Record Strengthens Party Ahead of 2027 Polls

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Aliyu Mohammed, popularly known as Kombat, has declared his support for the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the achievements of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya have strengthened the party’s prospects.
Mr Mohammed, the founder of the Velocity Humanitarian Foundation, announced his endorsement on Tuesday while addressing supporters and party members at a gathering in Gombe.
He said his decision followed consultations with members of his foundation, community leaders and political associates, adding that he was convinced Dr Gwamna possessed the leadership qualities needed to sustain the state’s development.
According to him, an assessment of the political landscape and the APC candidate’s vision informed his decision to back the party’s governorship bid.
Mr Mohammed argued that Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s performance in office had provided the APC with a solid foundation as it prepares for the next election cycle.
“What Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has done for Gombe State is visible to everyone. Even those who are not from Gombe can see the transformation. Because of these achievements, we believe the APC is in a very strong position going into the election,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the APC would win the governorship election and urged party members to remain united in pursuit of victory.
“I want to call on all APC members to come together, support our candidate and work for the progress of our party and the continued development of Gombe State,” he added.
Responding, the APC governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, commended Mr Mohammed for convening the gathering and described him as a committed advocate of youth empowerment.
“We appreciate his doggedness in bringing everyone together and for making the youth of our state his priority. Whoever abandons the youth abandons the future of that society. In Kombat, we have found someone who believes in the future of Gombe, and we are grateful for his initiative,” Dr Gwamna said.
The APC candidate called on party members to close ranks and intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I want to use this opportunity to ask for your support to ensure that we deliver the APC from top to bottom. By the grace of Allah, we will deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our senators, members of the House of Representatives, and members of the State House of Assembly, and, by the will of Allah, we shall also secure victory in the governorship election,” he said.
Dr Gwamna also expressed confidence in Mr Mohammed’s ability to mobilise grassroots support for the party, describing him as a key figure in the APC’s campaign structure.
“From today, Engr Aliyu Kombat is the commander of this struggle. I have confidence in his capacity to mobilise our people and deliver victory for the APC. Insha Allah, he will succeed,” he said.
The endorsement comes as political activities gradually gather momentum in Gombe State ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties and their candidates intensifying consultations and grassroots mobilisation across the state.
