Benue South Senate Aspirant Condemns Kidnap of Benue Links Passengers, Demands Swift Action

By Matthew Eloyi

Aspirant for the Benue South Senatorial District, Bashir Hassan Ekoja, has condemned in strong terms the reported abduction of passengers from a Benue Links bus on Sunday evening, describing it as a tragic reminder of the worsening insecurity in the state and the country at large.

In a statement issued shortly after news of the incident broke, Ekoja expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the attack, saying his thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this traumatic time.

“This is yet another dark reminder of the growing insecurity threatening the lives and freedoms of our people,” the Senate hopeful said.

He described the kidnapping as a cowardly and criminal act, emphasizing that it was not only an attack on innocent commuters but also an assault on the collective sense of safety and dignity of the people.

Ekoja called on security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the abducted passengers and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. He also urged both federal and state authorities to urgently review and reinforce security along highways and key transport routes, particularly in Benue State.

“Benue must not become a playground for bandits. The safety of our people must be non-negotiable,” he declared.

The incident has heightened concerns over the safety of road users in the region, especially those traveling with the state-owned transport company, Benue Links, which is widely used by residents across the state.
