CDS Strengthens Security Collaboration: Visits FCTA and Foreign Affairs Ministry

Yesterday, 22nd March 2024, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, embarked on a significant initiative to enhance collaboration with key government institutions. He paid courtesy visits to the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Barrister Nyesom Wike.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the CDS commended Ambassador Tuggar for his effective foreign policy directives and assured him of the readiness of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to partner with the ministry in fulfilling its core functions. Ambassador Tuggar, in response, expressed condolences to the AFN over recent incidents and called for a strengthened military to stabilize the sub-region.

In the FCT Minister’s office, General Musa praised Barrister Wike’s performance and described the FCT as a dynamic hub with diverse challenges. “As part of plans to increase security support within Abuja plans arebinderwat for a Rapid Response Team to combat crime, with ground troops and air support helicopters,” the CDS pledged.

In his response, Minister Wike commended the CDS’s leadership and extended condolences to the families of deceased officers and soldiers in Delta State. He pledged support to their families and outlined plans for the FCT administration to enhance security efforts. “Part of our plans is to establish the FCT Rapid Response Centre to address security challenges jointly with the military and other agencies.

This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both the military and government institutions to bolstering security across the nation.
