Court Orders Interim Forfeiture of Abuja Property Following EFCC Application

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, has ordered the interim forfeiture of a property located at Plot 1, Sabon Gida, Cadastral Zone, Abuja, following an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The order was granted on Monday, July 13, 2026, by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie pending the conclusion of an ongoing investigation by the anti-graft agency.

While moving the application, EFCC counsel, Samuel Ugwuegbulan, told the court that the motion was filed to preserve the property while investigations continue.

He informed the court that the application was supported by a 13-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Ifeoma Ezire, an administrative staff member in the Legal and Prosecution Department of the Commission.

According to the counsel, the Commission relied on the facts contained in the affidavit and its accompanying written address in urging the court to grant the application for interim forfeiture.

After reviewing the application and supporting affidavit, Justice Onwuegbuzie granted the request and ordered the interim forfeiture of the property located at Plot 1, Sabon Gida, Cadastral Zone, Abuja.

The court’s order will remain in effect pending the outcome of the EFCC’s investigation into the matter.
