The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun I Area Command, has intercepted military-patterned camouflage face caps, unregistered pharmaceutical products, narcotics and other prohibited goods with a total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦3.15 billion in Ogun State.

The Acting Customs Area Controller of the command, Deputy Comptroller Abdulhamid Ibrahim, disclosed this during a press briefing in Idiroko.

Ibrahim said the seizures included 321 camouflage face caps reserved for the Armed Forces and other security agencies, alongside 27,831 packets of various unregistered drugs, including codeine cough syrup, injections, eye drops and supplements without National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) registration numbers.

He explained that a patrol team intercepted a truck conveying the items, adding that the operation reflected the command’s commitment to preventing unauthorised access to security-related materials and protecting the country’s security architecture.

Other seizures included 4,013 wraps of cannabis and one wrap of Canadian Loud, a cannabis product. The narcotics were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.

Speaking on efforts to curb economic sabotage, Ibrahim disclosed that on October 2, 2026, the command intercepted three trucks conveying prohibited foreign pasta.

According to him, the first truck, a Sino Howo vehicle with registration number MSW-232-XA, contained 2,740 cartons of foreign Siddo Pasta concealed beneath 500 cartons of Oki Condensed Milk.

The second truck, with registration number TFA-674-XA, was carrying 6,000 cartons of foreign Ginny Pasta, while the third, with registration number KMC-702-ZR, contained 6,500 cartons of foreign Doga Pasta.

Ibrahim added that operatives also intercepted 100 bags of foreign parboiled rice concealed among mica and gypsum stones along the Afami-Dangote-Itori axis, as well as 950 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), each with a capacity of 25 litres.

He put the total DPV of all the seized items at ₦3,153,591,000, describing the recoveries as evidence of the command’s zero-tolerance approach to smuggling and other illegal activities.

“Our officers and men remain committed to promoting economic stability, safeguarding national security and protecting citizens from illicit items,” Ibrahim said.

In accordance with the relevant laws, the seized narcotics were handed over to the Commander of the NDLEA Idiroko Special Area Command, Akande Olasumbo.

Receiving the substances, Olasumbo commended the Customs officers for their sustained efforts in securing the nation’s borders and preventing illicit drugs from reaching members of the public.
