Dangote extended appreciation to key entities, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). He also thanked the Nigerian populace for their unwavering support and belief in this historic endeavour.

President Dangote highlighted President Tinubu’s visionary leadership, which, at various stages, addressed challenges and expedited the realization of the project. He emphasised that the production of diesel and aviation fuel has commenced, with the products expected to hit the market later this month pending regulatory approvals.

Describing it as a monumental day for Nigeria, Dangote expressed immense satisfaction with the achievement, emphasising its transformative impact on the country’s ability to develop and deliver large-scale capital projects.

The refinery, strategically located with two Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems 25 kilometers from the shore, has received six million barrels of crude oil. The first crude delivery occurred on December 12, 2023, followed by subsequent deliveries, including the latest on January 8, 2024.

With the capability to load 2,900 trucks daily at its truck-loading gantries, the refinery adheres to Euro V specifications. Its design aligns with global standards, complying with the World Bank, US EPA, European emission norms, and Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) emission/effluent norms, incorporating state-of-the-art technology.

Alhaji Dangote expressed gratitude to bankers and financiers, both local and offshore, for their patience during challenging times. He also acknowledged the proactive role of the Lagos State Government, led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, “I must extend our profound gratitude to the Governor of Lagos in swiftly resolving project-related issues. We thanked host communities, traditional leaders, and dedicated staff for their invaluable contributions to the success of this monumental project.”
