Defence Minister Dismisses Resignation Rumours, Reaffirms Commitment to National Security

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has dismissed reports claiming he has resigned from office, describing the rumours as false, misleading and without any basis.

Speaking after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Defence Minister said he has never discussed stepping down from his position, attributing the speculation to individuals displeased with the progress being recorded in the fight against insecurity.

General Musa reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the administration’s efforts to strengthen national security, stressing that he remains fully focused on his responsibilities.

He disclosed that he briefed President Tinubu on the current security situation across the country and ongoing military operations targeting terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements.

According to the Minister, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded by the nation’s security agencies and encouraged them to sustain the momentum in restoring peace and stability across the country.

General Musa assured Nigerians that the Federal Government and the security agencies remain resolute in intensifying operations to defeat criminal groups and improve security nationwide.
