Family of Murdered Kaduna Student Condemns Government Over Release of Suspects, Demands ₦560.3m Compensation
The family of Ahmed Musa, a secondary school student brutally murdered on February 16, 2025, at Government Technical College, Malali, Kaduna State, has strongly condemned the Kaduna State Government for the release of the prime suspects in the case.
In a statement personally signed by the victim’s father, Musa Mohammed, the family described the move as a “betrayal of justice” that has deepened their pain and obstructed the path to accountability.

Mohammed said the family is now demanding ₦560.3 million in compensation and will pursue legal action at the Federal High Court to challenge what they consider a grave injustice.
“We demand an expedited, transparent, and decisive legal process,”
the statement read.
Mohammed added that the family would resist any form of political interference or attempts to compromise the case.
Family Accuses Government of Neglect
According to the family, their compensation demand stems from what they termed “unfair treatment” following the release of the suspects—four personnel of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVIS) posted to the school at the time of the killing.
The family also declared its readiness to embark on a statewide protest to bring public attention to what they described as injustice, neglect, and a failure of the system to protect vulnerable students.
“We will continue to call on the public to support our quest for justice for Ahmed Musa,”
the grieving father said.
Suspects Were Earlier Remanded, Then Released
The four suspects — Timothy Abba (56), Joseph Ogoni (41), Bulus Adamu (42), and Francis Adamu (48) — had initially been arraigned before the Kaduna Chief Magistrate Court in Kabala Doki. They were charged with the alleged murder of the SS2 student and remanded by Chief Magistrate Naheed Ibrahim Abdulhamid.
The court adjourned the matter to May 27, 2025. However, the suspects were reportedly released shortly afterward, sparking fresh outrage from the family and concerned citizens.
‘Justice Must Be Served’ — Father
Mohammed, who is also a publisher, insisted that justice must be served not only to honor his son’s memory but also to restore public confidence in Kaduna State’s justice system.
The family warned that releasing suspects without the completion of legal processes undermines accountability, encourages impunity, and intensifies their trauma.
Public Support and Calls for Reform
They called on civil society groups, human rights advocates, and Nigerians across the country to stand with them in demanding justice for Ahmed.
A photograph shared by the family shows Musa Mohammed standing beside his late son, Ahmed Musa — an image that has amplified public concern and renewed calls for stronger security oversight within schools across Kaduna State.
