First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Unveils ₦100 Million Grant for 2,000 Women Traders in Jigawa

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting small and medium-scale businesses, describing the sector as a critical foundation for sustainable economic development and women’s empowerment.

She made the pledge on Monday during the commencement of her one-day official visit to Jigawa State, where she announced a ₦100 million business recapitalisation grant for 2,000 women petty traders.

Under the initiative, each beneficiary will receive ₦50,000 to strengthen and expand her small business.

The First Lady made the announcement at the palace of the Adamu Abubakar Maje, where she was received by the traditional ruler and other dignitaries.

Oluremi Tinubu said her administration remains committed to improving the livelihoods of women entrepreneurs, noting that supporting small businesses is essential for economic growth, poverty reduction and sustainable national development.

During her visit to the state, the First Lady is also expected to flag off the National Community Food Bank Programme for the North-West geopolitical zone.

In addition, she will inaugurate key projects executed by the Jigawa State Government, including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy and the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the First Lady to promote women and youth empowerment, improve food security and support community development initiatives across the country.
