General Oluyede Celebrates Frontline Troops with Christmas Luncheon in Plateau State
On Thursday, 25 December 2025, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Olufemi Oluyede honoured frontline personnel of the 3 Division and Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) with a Christmas luncheon in Plateau State, a gesture aimed at boosting morale and reaffirming leadership’s solidarity with troops serving across multiple theatres of operation. The CDS was represented at the event by the Commander Armour Corps, Major General UB Abubakar.

Delivering the CDS’s goodwill message, Major General UB Abubakar conveyed warm greetings, describing Christmas as a season of love, sacrifice, hope, and renewal. He praised the troops for their unwavering dedication while many Nigerians celebrated with family, noting that their courage, discipline, and professionalism reflect the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
General Oluyede also commended the personnel’s performance under Operation ENDURING PEACE, highlighting their role in restoring public confidence and stabilising Plateau State as well as parts of Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Benue States. He encouraged continued collaboration with sister security agencies and active engagement with local communities, aligning with the government’s holistic approach to security.
Reassuring troops about their welfare, the CDS reiterated the Armed Forces’ commitment to improving living and working conditions, enhancing healthcare delivery, and supporting families. He further emphasised the need for heightened vigilance during the festive season and appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his steadfast support of military operations nationwide.
Earlier, Major General EF Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of JTF OPEP, welcomed the CDS’s gesture, noting its significance in uplifting troop morale. He highlighted operational successes, including the neutralisation of criminal elements, arrests of suspected kidnappers, and recovery of arms, which contributed to a relatively peaceful festive season across Plateau State and neighbouring regions.
A standout moment of the event was the symbolic serving of Christmas meals to frontline troops by the CDS’s representative and senior officers, reinforcing leadership’s closeness to personnel and further boosting morale.
The event underscored the Nigerian Armed Forces’ dedication to both operational excellence and the well-being of its personnel during the Yuletide season.
