IGP Disu Decorates 30 Newly Promoted Senior Police Officers, Charges Them on Integrity, Service

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has formally decorated 30 senior police officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP), urging them to uphold integrity, professionalism and people-centred leadership in the discharge of their duties.

The decoration ceremony, held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, marked the official recognition of officers whose promotions reflect years of dedicated, distinguished and meritorious service to the Nigeria Police Force.

Addressing the newly promoted officers, IGP Disu congratulated them on their elevation, describing the promotion as both an honour and a greater call to responsibility.

He acknowledged the sacrifices they had made throughout their careers, noting that many had missed family celebrations, birthdays and other important personal milestones in the line of duty.

The IGP also paid tribute to the families of the officers, commending their patience, understanding and unwavering support, which he described as vital to the success of every police officer.

He charged the newly promoted officers to lead with integrity, fairness and compassion, stressing that officers who prioritise the welfare of those under their command would earn their trust, loyalty and commitment.

IGP Disu further urged them to strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force through exemplary conduct, accountability and professionalism, while mentoring younger officers and serving as role models for the next generation of police leaders.

He reminded the officers to wear their new ranks with humility as well as pride, assuring them of the Force’s continued commitment to their welfare and professional development.

The newly decorated Assistant Inspectors-General of Police include AIG Obono Nnaghe Itam, AIG Bassey Samuel Ewah, AIG Osagie John Agans-Irabor, AIG Monday Agbonika, AIG Iyamah Daniel Edobor, AIG Isah Danladi Nda, AIG Akaninyene Ifebem Ezima, AIG Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, AIG Bello Rashid Afegbua, AIG Hycenth Azuka Edozie, AIG Haruna Alaba Yahaya, AIG Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, and AIG Betty Enekpen Otimenyin.

Also decorated were the newly promoted Commissioners of Police, including CP Nelson Nwamanna, CP Bolanle Aremu Murtala, CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, CP Ajayi Oluyemi, CP Rita Oyintare Oki, CP Iya Umar Mohammed, CP Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, CP Nurudeen A. Sabo, CP Tijani Murtala, CP Yakubu Mohammed, CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, CP Akingbade C. Adeyinka, CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, CP Taiwo A. Adedeji, CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura and CP Zainab Audu Pembi.

The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Oyekachukwu Ibezim; Deputy National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Zainab Ibrahim; Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, representing the Governor of Jigawa State; Engr. Ken Ekwemigo, MFR, representing the Governor of Anambra State; His Royal Highness Clement Ikolo; Controller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche; and Brigadier-General K.C. Uwa, among other distinguished guests.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, professional growth and operational readiness of its personnel, noting that the promotion of deserving officers remains part of ongoing efforts to build a more professional, accountable and citizen-focused police service capable of meeting Nigeria’s evolving security needs.
