Centre LSD, DELSU Partner to Strengthen Leadership Education for Future Nigerian Leaders

The African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD) has entered into a strategic partnership with Delta State University (DELSU) to advance leadership education and prepare a new generation of ethical, strategic, and transformative leaders for Nigeria’s future.
The partnership, announced on Sunday, will see leadership studies introduced to students of Delta State University through the institution’s Centre for Niger Delta Studies (CENDS), which will serve as the academic platform for coordinating and delivering the programme.

The initiative is designed to equip students with the knowledge, values, skills, and competencies needed to provide responsible leadership, strengthen governance, and address the complex development challenges facing Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by the Executive Director of Centre LSD, Mr. Monday Osasah, the collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to investing in leadership development as a catalyst for national transformation.
“Leadership is not merely about occupying positions of authority; it is about possessing the knowledge, values, competence, and courage to make a positive difference in society,” Osasah said.
He added that the partnership demonstrates Centre LSD’s commitment to raising young leaders who are guided by integrity, strategic vision, accountability, and a strong sense of responsibility to their communities and the nation.
Under the arrangement, Centre LSD will bring its expertise in leadership development, governance, strategic thinking, and sustainable development, while DELSU, through the Centre for Niger Delta Studies, will provide the institutional framework for implementing the Leadership Studies programme.
The collaboration is also expected to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world leadership by exposing students to practical leadership challenges, ethical decision-making, civic responsibility, and sustainable development.
Centre LSD noted that the initiative builds on its long-standing investment in leadership development across Africa. Through its Leadership School and other capacity-building programmes, the organisation has trained 3,211 emerging and established leaders drawn from diverse sectors.
The Centre for Niger Delta Studies will coordinate the delivery of the programme while strengthening the relationship between academic scholarship, leadership development, and the socio-economic aspirations of the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to promoting leadership excellence, strategic thinking, ethical governance, and sustainable development through sustained collaboration.
The partnership comes at a time when stakeholders across Nigeria have increasingly called for stronger leadership education in tertiary institutions as part of broader efforts to nurture competent and values-driven leaders capable of driving national development.
