By Auwal Ahmad Umar

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has called on the management of Ashaka Cement Plc to expand employment opportunities for residents and strengthen its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives as the company embarks on a major expansion programme and transitions to HBM Nigeria Plc.

The governor made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving the Managing Director of Ashaka Cement Plc, Ibrahim Aminu, at the Government House in Gombe. The meeting focused on the company’s expansion plans, its transition to HBM Nigeria Plc, as well as tax-related issues and corporate social responsibility.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya described Ashaka Cement as one of Gombe State’s most strategic industrial partners, commending the company for its long-standing contribution to the state’s economic growth and industrial development.

> “Ashaka Cement has remained a key partner in our industrialisation agenda and socio-economic development. We appreciate the company’s contributions over the years and encourage its management to further deepen its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives,” the governor said.

He urged the company to ensure that the planned expansion translates into more employment opportunities, particularly for qualified indigenes from the host community, noting that inclusive growth remains central to his administration’s development agenda.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining policies that encourage private investment, assuring existing and prospective investors of a stable and business-friendly environment.

> “Our government will continue to provide the enabling environment required for businesses to thrive. We remain committed to policies that promote industrial growth, attract investments and create sustainable jobs for our people,” he added.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of Ashaka Cement Plc, Ibrahim Aminu, commended the Gombe State Government for its consistent support and collaboration with the company.

He said the investor-friendly policies introduced by the Inuwa Yahaya administration have strengthened the company’s operations and positioned it for future growth as it undergoes its transition to HBM Nigeria Plc.

> “We appreciate the cordial relationship we enjoy with the Gombe State Government. The favourable business environment created by this administration has enhanced our operations and given us confidence as we move into the next phase of our growth,” Aminu said.

He explained that the company’s expansion project is expected to improve operational efficiency while contributing more significantly to the state’s economy through increased production, investment and community development.

The delegation included the Head of Corporate Affairs, Mohammed Aminu. Also present at the meeting was the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zubair Muhammad Umar.
