Kano Task Force Seizes 3.18 Million Pregabalin Capsules in Major Drug Crackdown

The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force Committee on Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has seized 3,180,000 capsules of pregabalin in a major operation at Apple Avenue, Nomansland, Kano State.

The operation was carried out by officers of the Task Force as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug abuse and the illegal trafficking of controlled substances across the state.

The seized consignment was suspected to have been intended for illegal distribution and abuse. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind the shipment.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Task Force Committee, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Esq., described the seizure as a major setback for drug traffickers and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to dismantling drug networks.

He said, “Let me assure the people of Kano that this is a major blow to the drug barons. Every capsule taken off the street is a life, a family and a future protected. We will pursue everyone involved, and we will not rest until our communities are free from drugs.”

The chairman further assured residents that the committee would sustain its operations against drug trafficking networks, their sponsors and suppliers.

He called on residents, community leaders, religious leaders, parents and youths to support the fight by reporting suspicious activities, drug dealers and illegal drug stockpiles to the nearest security outpost.

He also urged parents and community members to remain vigilant and protect young people from being recruited into drug trafficking and other related activities.

The committee stressed that the fight against drug abuse requires collective responsibility, adding that public cooperation is essential to protecting young people and securing the future of Kano State.
