The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has commenced the first two-week Training of Trainers Programme in Business Model Development and Artificial Intelligence (AI) under the Start-up Digital Innovation Academy Project, marking a major step towards strengthening entrepreneurship and innovation in Nigeria.
The programme, which opened in Abuja, is designed to build a pool of highly skilled local instructors who will drive entrepreneurship development and digital innovation through the Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship (ACE).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the KOICA Nigeria Office, represented by Ms. Eunhye Yong, underscored the strategic importance of the initiative, describing it as a sustainable investment in Nigeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and future workforce.
She explained that over the next two weeks, 30 carefully selected participants—comprising 15 specialists in Business Model Development and 15 in Artificial Intelligence—will receive intensive, hands-on training from Korean experts.
According to her, the programme will equip participants with practical knowledge in business model development, business incubation, investment readiness, investor relations, and the application of emerging artificial intelligence technologies to entrepreneurship and business innovation.
Ms. Yong noted that beyond the immediate training, the participants are expected to serve as a critical foundation for the growth of the Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship by delivering quality training, mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, and transferring knowledge to future generations of innovators across the country.
She encouraged the participants to actively engage throughout the programme by asking questions, exchanging ideas, and taking full advantage of the expertise being shared.
“The knowledge and experience you gain here will not end with you. It will reach countless entrepreneurs and innovators who will pass through the Abuja Centre for Entrepreneurship in the years ahead,” she said.
The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the development of a sustainable ecosystem of competent trainers, innovative entrepreneurs, and globally competitive businesses, while advancing Nigeria’s digital transformation and entrepreneurship agenda.
