The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an alleged large-scale counterfeit alcoholic beverage operation at the International Trade Fair Complex in Lagos, seizing products valued at more than ₦2 billion.

The agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate carried out the raid following credible intelligence, discovering more than 20 illegal stores allegedly being used for illicit activities within the complex.

According to NAFDAC, officers found suspects allegedly blending and counterfeiting popular alcoholic beverage brands, revalidating expired and unsafe drinks for resale, and storing prohibited imported products.

Two suspects were apprehended during the enforcement operation, while the seized products were evacuated from the premises.

NAFDAC warned members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious manufacturing, the revalidation of expired products, or the sale of suspected counterfeit beverages.

The agency urged Nigerians to report such activities through its official complaints line: 0800-1-NAFDAC (0800-1-623322).
