In a major diplomatic milestone, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, paid an official visit to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters of the Slovak Republic in Bratislava. The high-level visit underscored growing military cooperation between the two nations.
According to a press statement released on Friday by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, General Musa and his delegation were warmly received by the Slovak CDS, General Daniel Zmeko, alongside other senior defence officials.
The visit began with a ceremonial guard of honour in Bratislava, inspected by General Musa. This was followed by robust bilateral discussions focusing on key defence matters.
Top on the agenda were military training, capacity development, defence equipment acquisition, and technology transfer. Both sides also explored collaboration on innovation and the enhancement of defence production capabilities.

General Musa expressed appreciation for Slovakia’s support and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening joint defence initiatives. He highlighted the potential for joint industrial ventures in the defence sector. In response, General Zmeko praised Nigeria’s leadership role in regional security and pledged continued cooperation.
The visit represents a significant step forward in Nigeria-Slovak defence relations, setting the stage for long-term strategic collaboration.
