Maj Gen Shaibu said the course was aimed at equipping the army personnel with the skills and knowledge to safely detect and neutralise IEDs, which he described as the most potent weapon used by terrorists in the region.

He urged the participants to be committed, dedicated and purposeful as they undergo the training, adding that the course would help them save lives of troops and civilians in their areas of operation.

He also thanked the BMATT for their support and collaboration in the training, as well as the Theatre Training Officer, 47 Engineer Brigade, and other staff officers for ensuring the success of the course.
