Nigerian Society of Engineers, HUKPOLY CNG Centre Strengthen Partnership on Clean Energy Initiative in Katsina

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Katsina Branch, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the Federal Government’s Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PI-CNG) through a strategic partnership with the Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic (HUKPOLY) CNG Conversion Centre.

The commitment was made during a meeting held on 23 July 2026 at the NSE Secretariat in Katsina, where officials of the HUKPOLY Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PI-CNG) Conversion Centre paid a courtesy visit to the branch.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the NSE Katsina Branch, Engr. Shamsuddeen Bashir IronBaba, MNSE, and attended by members of the Branch Executive Committee, the Director of the CNG Conversion Centre, Engr. Dr. Aliyu Hamza, as well as the Managing Director of HUKPOLY Consult, Mr. Abubakar Yakubu.

Discussions centred on the operations of the CNG Conversion Centre at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic and explored areas of collaboration to strengthen the implementation of the clean energy initiative in Katsina State.

The stakeholders also deliberated on the technical expertise and professional support that the Nigerian Society of Engineers would provide to ensure the effective delivery of the project in line with national engineering standards and best practices.

The engagement underscores the commitment of both institutions to promoting cleaner, more affordable energy solutions, advancing technical innovation, and supporting the Federal Government’s drive to expand the adoption of compressed natural gas as an alternative fuel for transportation and economic development in Nigeria.
