Nigeria’s New Ambassador to Israel Presents Credentials to President Herzog

Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Israel, Her Excellency Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, has formally commenced her diplomatic assignment after presenting her Letters of Credence to the President of Israel, His Excellency Isaac Herzog.

The presentation took place on Monday, August 3, 2026, during an official ceremony in Jerusalem, formally accrediting Ambassador Ufochukwu as Nigeria’s representative to the State of Israel.

The ceremony marks another step in Nigeria’s efforts to strengthen its longstanding diplomatic relations with Israel and deepen cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

Speaking after the ceremony, Ambassador Ufochukwu pledged to use her tenure to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives while building stronger bilateral ties between both countries.

She identified trade and investment, agriculture, technology, security, innovation and cultural exchange as key areas where Nigeria and Israel can further expand cooperation. She also emphasised the importance of strengthening people-to-people relations and creating opportunities that would deliver tangible benefits to citizens of both countries.

The Ambassador’s new assignment is expected to provide an avenue for greater collaboration between Nigeria and Israel, particularly in areas where Israel has developed expertise in technology, agriculture, innovation and security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed confidence that Ambassador Ufochukwu’s tenure would contribute significantly to consolidating Nigeria-Israel relations, opening new avenues for economic and diplomatic engagement, and advancing opportunities for sustainable development.

Her presentation of credentials therefore represents not only the formal beginning of her diplomatic mission, but also Nigeria’s continued commitment to constructive international partnerships and mutually beneficial relations with the State of Israel.
