Operation FANSAN YAMMA Establishes Forward Operating Base in Katsina to Strengthen Security
In a renewed effort to restore lasting peace and improve security in communities affected by terrorism and banditry, troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have established a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Sayaya Community, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The military said the deployment became necessary following persistent attacks by armed bandits, which forced many residents to flee their homes and abandon the community.
According to the operation, the new Forward Operating Base is strategically positioned to prevent terrorists and bandits from using Sayaya as a staging ground for attacks or as a supply route to their hideouts, many of which were previously destroyed during Operation CLEAN SWEEP III.
The establishment of the FOB is expected to enhance troop presence in the area, improve intelligence gathering, neutralise criminal elements and restore normalcy to Sayaya and surrounding communities.
Military authorities noted that the deployment is also aimed at creating a secure environment that will encourage displaced residents to return to their ancestral homes and resume farming and other socio-economic activities that had been disrupted by insecurity.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across Katsina State and the wider North-West region.
The operation assured residents that troops would sustain aggressive operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements until lasting peace and stability are restored.
The military also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence to enhance ongoing operations and improve security across the region.
