Operation FANSAN YAMMA: Troops Neutralise Terrorist Kingpin, Arrest Two in Katsina
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have neutralised two terrorists, including a suspected kingpin identified as Abbah Alhassan, and arrested two other suspected terrorists in separate operations in Katsina State.
The operations were conducted on September 15, 2026, following credible intelligence on plans by terrorists to attack communities in Matazu and Kankara Local Government Areas.
Acting on the intelligence, troops of Sector 2 mobilised to the identified terrorist hideout, where they engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle with superior firepower.
Two terrorists, including Abbah Alhassan, were neutralised during the encounter, while others reportedly fled into the surrounding bush.
During the subsequent exploitation of the area, troops recovered 10 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, a cutlass, camouflage clothing and Indian hemp, among other items.
In a separate operation conducted the same day, troops of Sector 2 arrested two suspected terrorists in the Yantumaki general area of Dan Musa Local Government Area.
Preliminary interrogation indicated that the suspects were allegedly associated with a terrorist kingpin identified as Mannori.
The suspects remain in custody for further investigation as troops continue operations aimed at disrupting terrorist networks, rescuing victims and denying criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
