Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 kidnapped civilians, including an infant, after a sustained military pursuit forced their abductors to abandon them in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, following a swift response by troops to reports of the abduction of residents of Unguwan Daudu and Unguwan Chibauna communities in Funtua Local Government Area.
Acting on actionable intelligence, troops deployed around the Sabuwa axis were mobilised to track the fleeing terrorists and rescue their captives.
The military pursuit reportedly put the abductors under intense pressure, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee as troops closed in.
The 10 victims, comprising three adult males, six females and one infant, were subsequently recovered safely.
The rescued civilians are expected to be handed over to the Sabuwa Local Government authorities for medical evaluation and necessary support before being reunited with their families.
The operation highlights the continued efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist and kidnapping activities across the North-West and protect vulnerable communities.
It also underscores the importance of timely and actionable intelligence in enabling security forces to respond swiftly to attacks, pursue fleeing criminals and rescue abducted civilians.
