Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised two terrorists and recovered arms, ammunition, motorcycles and other items during sustained clearance operations in Sokoto State.
The operations, conducted on October 15, 2026, involved troops of Sector 2 who made contact with terrorists at Waria Forest and engaged them in a firefight, neutralising one suspect.
Following the encounter, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles and other items.
In a separate encounter at Sarma Village, troops engaged another group of terrorists, neutralising one while others fled, abandoning their equipment.
Further exploitation of the area led to the recovery of six additional motorcycles, two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 23 rounds of ammunition, a communication device and other items.
The Theatre Command said the successes reflected the troops’ continued efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and security across the joint operations area.
It commended members of the public for their continued support and cooperation, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
The statement was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, on October 16, 2026.
