Operation HADIN KAI Makes Major Intelligence Breakthrough, Identifies Senior ISWAP Leaders

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded a significant intelligence breakthrough following recent successful offensive operations against ISWAP/ISIS terrorists in the Lake Chad region of northern Borno State.

During the operations, troops recovered several technical devices and other high-value intelligence materials, including a camcorder reportedly used by ISWAP terrorists to record propaganda materials and document their activities.

According to the Joint Task Force, forensic exploitation of the recovered devices yielded actionable intelligence that enabled security forces to identify locations linked to terrorist activities as well as several senior ISWAP leaders and key operatives operating around the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis, along the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas of Borno State.

Among those identified are Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, identified by the military as the Wali, or governor, of ISIS West Africa Province; his deputy and Amirul Jaish, Muhammad Jidda, also known as “The One-Handed Man”; and Hamad Abu Hanifa, identified as the Amirul-Fiya of ISWAP, among other operatives.

Military Offers Reward for Information on ISWAP Leader

Operation HADIN KAI has specifically called on members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, whom the military described as a highly wanted terrorist leader operating within the Lake Chad Basin.

The military said a substantial financial reward would be provided to anyone whose credible and actionable information directly contributes to his arrest.

It assured potential informants that all information provided would be handled with the highest level of confidentiality, while their identities would be protected in accordance with established security procedures.

The Joint Task Force further urged residents and communities within the affected areas to remain vigilant and support ongoing counter-terrorism operations by promptly reporting suspicious activities and information concerning suspected terrorist operatives through established security channels.

However, members of the public were strongly warned not to confront, pursue or attempt to arrest suspected terrorists themselves, stressing that such actions could endanger lives.

Operation HADIN KAI said continued cooperation between security forces and civilians remains critical to disrupting terrorist networks, strengthening intelligence-led operations and restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
