Osun begins screening for intending pilgrims

By Richard Akintade, Osogbo

Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced screening for the intending pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj exercise.

The Chairman of the board, Dr Moruf Ishola stated this while flagging off the exercise which held at the office of the Board located within the Osun State Government Secretariat, Osogbo.

He said the exercise is particularly aimed at validating the Islamic knowledge of the intending pilgrims in order to know if they were qualified for the holy journey or not.

He noted that, “The screening is aimed at having a thorough knowledge of the pilgrims’ state of health, their religiosity as well as other relevant information, which will go a long way in making the journey a hitch free not only for the pilgrims but the Board itself”.

Earlier in his remarks, the Administrative Secretary of the Board, Mr Muritala Fakunle, reiterated the readiness of the agency to make the coming Hajj exercise a success in line with all the necessary arrangements so far put in place by the Osun Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Fakunle described Hajj as one of the important religious obligations which requires the need for all intending pilgrims to have deep knowledge of Islam in addition to being physically and mentally fit.

According to him, “We want our pilgrims to be fit, hale and hearty. We want to go to the holy land of Makkah and Madinah and return with all our pilgrims without anyone of them missing InshAllah.
