The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against violent crime with the arrest of two suspected members of a notorious “one chance” robbery syndicate operating within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and surrounding areas.
The suspects, identified as David Francis (22) and Emmanuel Ibenni (36), were apprehended on March 8, 2026, at Sambec Hotel following actionable intelligence by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS).
According to police authorities, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a criminal syndicate that disguises as commercial transport operators to lure unsuspecting passengers before robbing and assaulting them.
The syndicate has reportedly been linked to multiple cases of abduction and theft, dispossessing victims of cash, mobile phones, and other valuables. In some instances, victims were left with serious injuries, while others were discovered dead after encounters with the group.
Police sources disclosed that several victims have already identified the suspects, providing critical information to support ongoing investigations.
The Force noted that efforts are underway to track down and arrest other members of the syndicate, as it reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
The spokesperson of the Force, Anthony Okon Placid, reiterated that operations against violent criminal networks will continue with increased intensity.
