Police Confirm Abduction of Six During NECO Examination in Kogi, One Victim Rescued
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six persons, including four students, a school principal and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc staff member, during an attack on Government Secondary School, Olowa, in Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Salihu Oyiza Afusat, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the victims were kidnapped while the NECO examination was in progress at the school.
The Police said a combined team of security personnel, comprising officers of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, immediately launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation following the incident.
The Command confirmed that one of the abducted students has since been rescued, while efforts have been intensified to secure the safe release of the remaining victims.
The Police also assured residents that security operatives are on the trail of the abductors and are working to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The Command urged members of the public to remain calm and continue to provide useful information that could assist ongoing rescue operations and the arrest of the perpetrators.
